Hello all!
My name is Melanie and I am a Senior here @ Albertus. I aspire to graduate in May with a Bachelor's in General Studies! I live in Branford and have worked in the Accounting Dept. @ Honeywell for the past 12 years. I'm single and have no children--perhaps someday. Having worked with numbers for so long, I thought it was about time to finish up my degree which I began @ St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. For so long, I was told by many that photography is simply a hobby. I set out to prove 'em wrong by taking pictures for the student newspaper and taking a B&W Photo class @ RIT. I absolutely loved every minute of every day when I was taking pictures--and still do! Enrolling in this Digital Photography course will be the ultimate challenge for me, though, as I have traditionally photographed the world with film. I must admit it has become quite an expensive "hobby" as I watch more and more print shops close and I have to drive farther and farther away--although I do love to travel. When I'm not driving 50 miles to my favorite print shop, I love walking on the beach (Water's Edge in Westbrook is a fave), beach combing for shells (I've perfected the Sanibel Stoop), fishing (love Chaffinch Island in Guilford & Nantucket, too), browsing bookstores with Java Chip Frap in hand and watching foreign films. I apologize in advance for the length of this entry--I'll keep it short next time! Well, I look forward to "meeting" all of you here and viewing your work too! I hope you are all enjoying your Labor Day holiday. Please feel free to join me on fotothing at the following link: www.fotothing.com/Melskigphoto

Hi Melanie,
Thanks for your kind words regarding my photo. Your photo through the shop window is so charming. It takes you back to anohter time. Makes me want to go antiquing.
Enjoy the beautiful day...
Maureen
Hi Melanie thank you for the words of encouragement. The self portrait was a little more difficult then I would have expected.
Hi Melanie... Welcome!... As you may know I earned my MFA in Photography at RIT... I loved the Rochester area when I was there...
